Girl’s fantasy: A Poem by Mir Sana Aijaz

0

In a world where she walks alone,

A girl’s heart feels unsafe, unknown.

She wonders why she must always explain

Things she didn’t do, yet still takes the blame

Why should she fear, as footsteps draw near?

Why must she worry if someone is too near?

While boy’s mistakes are easily forgiven,

But when a girl makes mistakes, you see

She is compared to her mother, like a decree.

She longs for a world where she can just be,

Where gender won’t define her, you see

Why must she carry the weight of her kin?

Where boys can escape the judgments

Within?

Let’s change the narrative, break the chain

Empower her voice, let her rise again

For, she is not just a reflection of her mother.

But an individual, like others.

So let’s stand together, embrace her might,

Create a safe haven, where she can take flight.

In a world where she walk without fear,

Where equality reigns, and respect is clear.
