Police recovered Illicit timber in Sopore

Sopore, Feb 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized a consignment of illicit timber from village Vuhlutra Arkhereari in the jurisdiction of Police Station Panzalla in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

“Acting on specific information, a Police party headed by SHO PS Panzalla conducted a raid at a specific location at village Vuhlutra Arkhereari,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“During the search, the police party was able to recover consignment of illicit timber (66.23 Square feet) from the said spot,” he said, adding that the accused involved in the commission of crime has been identified as Abdul Majeed Najar son of Fateh Mohammad Najar resident of Volutra Rafiabad. 

“Efforts are on to nab the accused person,’ he said. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 06/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Panzalla and investigation has been initiated, he said.

“Police earnestly appeal to the general public to collaborate with law enforcement in the battle against crimes. If anybody has any information regarding social evils, or any other criminal activities, kindly contact the nearest police station or dial 112,” he added.
