Srinagar, Feb 21: JIM and WS organised Basic and Intermediate Skiing Courses at its training area in Sonamarg, attracting 93 participants from across the country.
A defence spokesperson said that the aim was to teach skiing techniques and encourage friendly competition among trainees.
“Participants learned skills like Sliding, Gliding, Snow Plough and Break, and engaged in peak-to-slalom competitions. Special recognition was given to outstanding performers like Ms Bhakti Khakkar, Victor, and others,” he said.
Cadet NCC Sujata Priyadarshini Sahoo and Zubair Ahmad Dar were praised for their slalom skiing, with Sahoo named the best overall student. Advanced techniques were taught in Intermediate Skiing Course 18, with participants like Rahil Ahmad Chohan and Nissar Ahmad Dar excelling in different areas.
Overall, these courses provided a platform for skill development and friendly competition, promoting skiing across the country.
