Srinagar, Feb 17: DPAP chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad Saturday accused the National Conference of prioritising their hunger for power over the interests of the people of J&K and said that it had previously formed alliances with the BJP, despite ideological differences, and remained silent on critical issues such as the revocation of Article 370.
“I was aware of their talks with the BJP in 2014,” he said while addressing a gathering of DPAP workers in Nagrota, Jammu.
Azad commended the tireless dedication of party workers in expanding the party’s presence across every corner of the J&K (UT) within a span of just one and half years. Azad stressed the significance of ensuring victory in all Lok Sabha and assembly seats in the upcoming elections.
He underscored the pivotal role of grassroots mobilisation in securing electoral triumphs and advancing the party’s agenda. “As we prepare for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections, it is imperative that we intensify our grassroots efforts to secure victory.”
Azad emphasised that his government had sanctioned numerous development projects aimed at enhancing education, healthcare, infrastructure, and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. Azad highlighted key accomplishments, including the sanctioning of degree colleges, medical colleges, universities, schools, roads, bridges, yatri niwas, haj house, and various other vital projects.
Meanwhile, Azad attacked the National Conference, denouncing their history of political opportunism and power-seeking tactics. He accused the NC of prioritising their hunger for power over the interests of the people of J&K. Azad pointed out that the NC had previously formed alliances with the BJP, despite ideological differences, and remained silent on critical issues such as the revocation of Article 370. I was aware of their talks with the BJP in 2014.
He emphasised that it was he who spoke out against the revocation, demonstrating a commitment to defending the rights of the people of J&K. “It is regrettable that the NC has consistently put their thirst for power above the welfare of the people,” Azad stated. “Even after the revocation of Article 370, they are willing to beg the BJP for alliance partnerships, further exposing their opportunistic nature.”
Azad reaffirmed his dedication to working for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, emphasising his commitment to honesty and integrity in leadership. He reiterated his stance against misleading the public and underscored his focus on addressing the real issues facing the region.
