Srinagar, Feb 9: The Indian Army, in collaboration with Voice of SAP NGO, Spreading Smiles NGO of Ahmedabad, and HOPE NGO of Ganderbal, organised an Empowerment Camp in Gund area of Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district aimed at supporting specially-abled people.
The event, held in partnership with local organisations, focused on skill-building and providing essential tools for livelihood, catering to underprivileged specially-abled people from 10 remote villages in the Kangan Subdivision of Ganderbal District.
The camp addressed key objectives, including the distribution of mobility solutions such as wheelchairs and tricycles to enhance the mobility and independence of specially-abled individuals.
Also, assistive devices like hearing aids for those with hearing impairments and axillary crutches for mobility issues were provided. Sewing machines were also distributed to empower specially-abled individuals with skills conducive to economic independence.
Furthermore, health and well-being services were offered, including medical check-ups conducted by the Medical Officer of 34 Assam Rifles, along with the distribution of free medicines.
The collaborative efforts between the Indian Army and NGOs left a lasting impact, promoting a society where specially-abled individuals can lead fulfilling lives with dignity and pride.
