Bandipora’s social worker honored with Mahatma Gandhi seva puraskar award for his exemplary work and contribution

Bandipora, Feb 05: Reyaz Ahmad Shah a dedicated social worker has been honored with the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Puruskar 2024 by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha for his exemplary contribution to the nation. 

The prestigious ceremony took place at the historic Dewan-E-Aam, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu. Reyaz Ahmad is a dedicated social worker and peace activist from Nadihal village of Bandipora. He earned recognition for his outstanding contributions during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

His initiatives included organizing medical camps, relief camps, and promoting Gandhian ideology among the people. Notably, he led awareness campaigns on herbs and herbal products in collaboration with IIM at the Mini-secretariat in Bandipora, providing herbal plants to farmers, such as lavender, to emphasize sustainable and holistic living.

Among his notable achievements was the successful management of the Gandhi Mandela Peace Tournament series in Bandipora district. This initiative aimed at providing opportunities for orphans and children from families affected by covid. Shah collaborated with the Gandhi Global Family and the United Nations Information Center New Delhi, showcasing his commitment to fostering peace and harmony.

The esteemed award was presented to Mr. Shah on the 76th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 2024, reflecting his dedication and selfless service to the community.
