Grand R-Day functions held across Bandipora, DDC Chairperson Unfurls Flag at SK Stadium
Bandipora, Jan 26: To celebrate 75th Republic Day, grand functions were held across north Kashmir’s Bandipora district with the main function being held at S. K Stadium Bandipora where Chairperson District Development Council Bandipora Abdul Gani Bhat unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past.
The march past was presented by contingents of CRPF, JKP, JK IRP, JK Fire and Emergency, SPOs, JK Home Guard, NCC besides students of various schools and JKP Band Group.
The Chairperson DDC was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel Ul Rehman Rather and SSP Bandipora Lakshay Sharma.
ADDC Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ASP Bandipora Sandeep Bhat, ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi, Padmashree Faisal Ali Dar, DDC Members, ACR Shabir Wani, senior officers from civil administration, Judiciary, police, Army and para military and large gathering of public from all walks of life attended the event at S.K Stadium.
The program witnessed presentations of various cultural events and patriotic songs depicting India's vibrant cultural, economic and social progress.
Chairperson DDC Abdul Gani Bhat, in his speech, congratulated the participants and highlighted the historical background of Republic Day Celebrations. The chairperson also highlighted the developmental aspects of the country on various fronts.
He said Jan Bhagidari/ Back to Village initiative provided an opportunity to every individual to participate in developmental activities.
He appreciated the efforts of district administration for maintaining close coordination with elected representatives, which enabled the district to achieve huge progress in developmental projects, saturation of beneficiary-oriented schemes, employment generation schemes and various other sectors.
The chairperson said that the District Capex budget for the year 2023-2024 includes Rs. 62.47 crore for development projects in the district, of which Rs. 51.06 crore has been released, out of which an amount of Rs. 33.51 crore has been spent on various development projects.
The Chairperson further mentioned that a total of 1754 development projects have been identified across the district, out of which 1350 projects are targeted for completion during the financial year 2023-2024.
He further said that 17 development projects have been identified under the Aspirational Block scheme in Arin and Tulail blocks, with a total cost of Rs. 2 crore, out of which an amount of Rs 1.20 crore stands allocated and an expenditure of Rs 30 lakh rupees have been booked so far.
He further said that under the R&B sector, work on 13 new roads has been taken up and work is going on in full swing on 09 roads and projects are nearing completion.
Ab Gani Bhat further said that in district Bandipora, the PRIs, BDCs, DDCs have spent Rs. 28 Crores on various developmental projects in their respective areas during the current financial year.
He also mentioned prestigious Semi Ring Road Project Phase II, of which around 7kms pass through the various villages of Sub Division Sumbal of District Bandipora, and works on same are going on in full swing and is targeted for completion in next few months.
The Chairperson, while praising the land of Alim Adab and Aab, said that Bandipora is successfully proving its mettle in various spheres of Governance and Development. He also praised the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police in curbing the menace of drug abuse and also for taking strict legal action against notorious criminals involved in the drug trade.
He lauded the efforts of district administration for reaching out in every block in the district by regularly conducting block diwas and public outreach programmes and listening to the public at their doorsteps.
Subsequently, the felicitation ceremony was held wherein officers and officials of various civil and other departments were felicitated for their outstanding public service delivery.
The R-Day Celebrations were also held across the district, including Mini Secretariat, Sub Division Gurez, Sub Division Sumbal, Block Level, Panchayat Level besides schools and colleges of the District.
Earlier in the morning, at Mini Secretariat and Camp Office, Deputy Commissioner Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel Ul Rehman unfurled the national flag amidst participation of employees of various departments working in Mini-Secretariat Bandipora.
