Srinagar, Jan 03: Two talented martial artists from Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) in Srinagar, Wafai Tazkiya and Shaya Binte Showkat, secured gold and silver medals, respectively in a historic moment at the 5th Jammu and Kashmir UT Level Karate Championship 2023.
Representing district Srinagar at Mahajan Hall, Jammu, the event, organized by the Amateur Karate Do Association of J&K, featured 550 participants from various districts.
Wafai Tazkiya, a 7th-grade student, showcased exceptional skills by winning silver in kumite and gold in kata. Shaya Bint-i- Showkat, a 5th-grade student, displayed remarkable talent in kumite, earning a well-deserved silver medal, marking her as a rising star in the karate arena.
The championship was honored by the presence of AKAJK President Sunil Sharma, Vice Presidents Faisal Ali Dar and Rahil Gupta, along with Sanjay Tutoo, the General Secretary of AKAJK.
