05 houses gutted in overnight blaze in Gurez valley

Bandipora, 11 April: At least 05 residential houses were gutted in a massive fire in the remote hilly area of Tulail near the LoC in north Kashmir's Bandipora district last night, officials said on Wednesday.
SDM Gurez, Mudassir Ahmad while confirming damage to at least 05 houses in the blaze, told that the fire broke out in Gratnallah Tulail village located adjacent to the LoC.
He said as per the initial reports by the field staff, five houses housing seven families have been affected by the incident.
As per the official, the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
More than 05 houses were engulfed in the flames and eventually razed to the ground, the official said.
He added that a police team along with fire tenders and revenue team rushed to the spot and doused the flames with the help of locals, no loss of life or any injury was reported in the blaze.
However, locals urged the administration to compensate the losses to the affected families at the earliest.
Meanwhile on the directions of DC Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad, a team of revenue officials have been dispatched to the area to assess the damages.
