Indian Army celebrates World Wildlife Day in Gurez Valley

Bandipora, March 04:  The 36th battalion Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army stationed in Gurez on Saturday organised an awareness programme at Nayal Village to celebrate World Wildlife Day.

An official said  the Battalion distributed pamphlets containing name of all the endangered animals in India and gave children knowledge and ways to protect the animals.

Teacher, Jahangir conducted a lecture regarding the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and made them aware about the strict rules that aid in prospering and safety of the wildlife animals in India. Theme for this year is Partnership for Wildlife Conservation.

Children along with army personal took an oath to save and protect the life of animals and also at the same time treat the other species equally as the world is meant for all to live, children and parents conveyed their gratitude to the Indian Army at for the gesture and promised to carry forward the thought into future. 

Spokesperson said the World is full of amazing creatures from every possible medium. Wildlife benefits us in many ways. World Wildlife Day is a day to remind us of our responsibilities to our world and the lifeforms we share it with. 

World Wildlife Day was started by the United Nations General Assembly and over the years it has become the most important annual event dedicated to the preservation of wildlife.
