Bandipora, March 16: Indian Army stationed in Kanzalwan Village of snowbound Gurez Valley near Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday distributed sports equipments among children and youth of the Gurez valley.
An official spokesperson said in an initiative to boost sports facilities in the Kanzalwan area Army organised a sports equipment distribution ceremony at Kanzalwan on Wednesday.
He said there is no better way to channelise the enthusiasm of school children than to encourage them to cultivate the habit of playing games." By maintaining the effort in the battalion AOR total of 7 schools were distributed with full cricket kits, volleyballs and footballs along with badminton sports equipments".
For girls badminton match was organised and prizes were distributed. "The step was a measure taken by the army to cultivate sports and identify talents in the area. School teachers admired the initiative of Army to strengthen the bond between students, teachers and Army," Officials added.
He said the event was a symbolic picture to encourage the efforts for progressiveness of society in all aspects and increasing bond between AWAM and Jawan.
