After fresh landslides, traffic restored on Jmu-Sgr highway, 2-way traffic tomorrow

Srinagar, Feb 28: The 278-km-long Jammu-Srinagar highway was restored for traffic after remaining blocked at Samroli in Udhampur district due to fresh landslides on Monday, officials said.

“A massive landslide struck the highway at Dewal near Samroli in Udhampur district around 2.45 am, but the men and machinery were employed and blasts were carried throughout the day near landslide site and traffic movement has been restored this evening at Samroli for stranded vehicles,” traffic official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

“Tomorrow on 01-03-2022, subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs(Passenger)/private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa,” traffic department said in an advisory, adding that TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.

It said that cut off for LMVs/private cars from Nagrota (Jammu) will be at 0800 hours to 1200 hours, from Jakheni (Udhampur) at 0900 hours to 1300 hours and from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) 0800 hours to 1200 hours “(subject to change depending on the road position then)” It also said no vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timings.
