Army Conducts Electricity Cum Fire Safety Audit in Gurez

Bandipora, January 21.  Indian Army's unit stationed at Snowbound Kanzalwan village of Gurez valley on Thursday visited several habitations to conduct Electricity cum Fire Safety audit aiming to avoid frequent fires in winters.

An officials said in continuation of the  seven day period of "Electricity cum Fire Safety Drive"  in the unit AOR, Kanzalwan village was inspected today and locals were advised and guided by unit soldiers.

He said an electricity audit was carried out and loose connections were rectified in Kanzalwan village . 

Moreover, as villagers had stocked firewood and fodder for winters along with K/oil to allow running of heating appliances, a fire safety drill was coordinated with the locals in which running sources of water were identified and important telephone numbers  shared so that timely reaction can be ensured to minimise damage in the event of a hazardous incident.

Spokesman said while the audit of the Kanzalwan mosque was being carried out, religious sentiments of the villagers were kept in mind. Maulvi welcomed this initiative and highly appreciated the efforts of Army towards ensuring the locals safety in  the time of prayer towards Allah. 

He said this initiative has been appreciated by all villagers in the BN AOR. The locals welcomed the gesture to ensure safety during the high risk winter period.
