Bandipora, January 16: Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) on Sunday lauded the efforts of teaching community for working tirelessly amid testing times.

In a statment issued to Kashmir Convener, President of the Forum Anwer Hussain Wani said the forum salutes the dedicated teaching community for their tireless and selfless efforts in the heaviest of odds and most testing times .

He said during the last two waves of covid pandemic and even during other unfavorable circumstances the entire teaching community utilized all its resources and energy for safeguarding the future of students and thanks to Almighty Allah we succeeded in achieving our goals.

Wani said the, surge and spike in covid cases in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir has forced the authorities to close winter tutorials camps and even coaching centres and it is perhaps the best decision as safeguarding the lives has to be the first priority. "Amid this, the entire teaching community has already started their efforts to reach out to the students in all possible and feasible ways to ensure that they don't suffer any academic loss."

He said the teaching community not only ensured that the students remain in touch with their studies but also fought as front line warriors on all fronts during the pandemic. "At present as the situation is worsening  every stake holder assures the student community that the empathetic and committed teaching community of Jammu and kashmir will leave no stone unturned to ensure that they do not face any problem or any academic loss.

The forum requested the entire teaching community to continue to work with same dedication and explore all ways to reach out to the students may it be online classes, creation of watsapp groups of students, conference calls or distribution of study materials to students and wherever possible visiting the students personally in complete accordance to covid protocol.

"JKGLTF requests the authorities to give liberty to the teachers to choose the best means and ways for reaching out to the students as it is a ground level teacher who is the best judge and knows which option is going to yield best results," Reads the statement.

According to the statement, Wani requested authorities not to thrust the use of any particular platform or medium as in the past such experiments have not yielded the desired results. "At the same time the forum also requests worthy Principal Secretary Education and worthy Directors Kashmir and Jammu to kindly lessen the burden of teachers by exempting them from non- teaching assignments at this stage as the ground reality is that teachers even in such situations are being assigned tasks like Talash online trainings etc etc besides covid duties,".

Wani said the authorities should realise that besides reaching out to students the teacher have to look after their families, ailing parents and have to safeguard their near and dear ones from this deadly wave which has a much much higher infection rate, than the earlier variants. "We have proved our worth in the past and we will prove it again but we request the authorities to be realistic and cooperative from their side too," He added.
