Srinagar, January 08: J&K Students Association on Saturday condemned some anti-social elements who pretend themselves as part of students association and illegally collect the funds from people in the name of organization.
In a statement, the association said this has come to their notice that some anti-social elements from different districts of Kashmir are masquerading themselves as part of students association and thereby collecting the funds from people in the name of organization in Delhi. “We strongly condemn the malicious intentions of these elements. These people have no connection with the association, whatsoever”
Spokesperson said they have been informed by journalists and activists in the national capital that few people masquerading as Students Association members have been extorting money from people. “These boys are from Kulgam district who claimed that they are collecting funds for 300 affected families living in a camp including widow, orphans who are without shelter. They claimed that they need ration, money and are going door to door in New Delhi to collect funds in the name of students association”.
Association requested people not to fall prey to such organizations. “We bear no responsibility. We will file a police complaint against such people who dupe people in the name of students’ charity,” reads the statement. “We want to clarify that the association has not authorized any person to collect funds for students or any activities on its behalf. Association termed these acts scurrilous”.
Association warned such people to refrain from such things and not to malign the name of the association. “We took up matters with District administration Kulgam and requested them to ascertain the facts of matter and to find out these elements in order to initiate legal actions against them and to investigate the matter & all accused shall be taken to task”.
