Asha workers demand release of 3 months pending salary

Bandipora, May 17, : Asha workers in Bandipora district are yet to receive their salaries for the past three months. A group of Asha workers staged a peaceful protest in Sumbal Block of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district urging the government to resolve their issue and release the wages which they have not received for the past three months.
   “Coming from an economically poor background, we continue to work without getting our salaries. For many of us, salary is the major source of income,” rue the Asha workers.
   One of the Asha workers told that they are performing duties in this pandemic and still not being paid. “We are being called Covid-Warriors but not being paid. For three months we have not received a penny,” she said.
  The protesting Asha workers urged the concerned department to release their pending salaries. (KNT)
