MSK organizes awareness programme on women-centric welfare schemes

BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 28:  Mahila Shakti Kendra Bandipora Thursday organized a day long awareness programme for women with an aim to create awareness about the women centric welfare schemes.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir was chief guest on the occasion while District Information Officer and other senior officers of the district were also present on the occasion.

The programme was attended by female students, Asha workers, Anganwari workers and other officials.

Mir said the aim of organizing the programme was to inform the women about the welfare schemes aimed at empowering the women and uplifting her socio-economic status by ensuring her better healthcare, education and making her economically independent.

He said there are several schemes in place that will ensure financial empowerment of women through enrolment under various self-employment schemes.

On the occasion resource persons from various departments including JKEDI, Health, ICDS, One-stop Centre etc apprised participants about various self-employment schemes of the government and called upon them to avail benefits entailed under these schemes.

The participants were made aware about benefits and eligibility criteria under schemes like Seed Capital Fund Scheme, Youth Startup Loan Scheme, Himayat Employment Scheme, Term Loan Scheme, Micro Financing Loan Scheme, Women Entrepreneurship Program besides schemes of Handloom, Handicraft departments, KVIC, KVIB and Industries.

Coordinators MSK, Aisha Shafi and Sumaya Muzafar urged the participants to avail benefit of the welfare schemes and said that they are always available for the hand holding of the women who want to avail benefit of these schemes.

Pertinently, Central Government has established District Level Centre for Women under Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme in each district which is mandated to identify problems faced by women in availing various government schemes, generating awareness about schemes besides monitoring their implementation.
