Poonch, July 29, CNS: During the fresh escalation along Line of Control in Poonch Sector of Jammu Kashmir on Sunday, a 10-day old infant has died, in the exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani armies, while among the two other civilians injured include the mother of the child

According to the reports, the shelling began on Sunday evening in Shahpur Sector of Poonch district in which three civilians were injured.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Arif Rathor son of Mohammad Syed age 40, Fatima Jan wife of Mohammad Qasim Gujjar age 35 and her 10-day old baby.

All the three injured were shifted to District Hospital Poonch, where the baby succumbed.

The other two were referred to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu for specialized treatment, where according to police, their condition is stable. (CNS)

Reports said that the two armies exchanged fire in Saujiyan, Mendhar and Krishna Ghati sectors along the Line of Control also, besides Shahpur.

Police said that several houses were also damaged due to shelling in these areas.

The exchange of fire, between the two armies was still on in Mendhar and Krishna Ghati sectors, when reports last came in.
