“To whom it may concern”

Few days back, one of my relative invited me for lunch. Although being not too much busy that day, I deferred this invitation by one day, so as to accomplish few of my official tasks, the next day as I had to go by that side of the city regarding the same. So the next day I went there. On finishing the feast, I decided to head towards my office, as it was already 2:15. As I was about to take the main road, (Newa Khandah –Srinagar), I saw a school bus of one of the reputed school of Lalbazar area dropping the students near Chattergam, Kanipora. This terrifying scene shook my conscience “once again”, and it was a collective feeling of utter disappointment and bewilderness. I just got petrified to the core.

I used the word “once again” above, that’s because, I continuously use to see school buses of leading and reputed schools of north side of the city boarding and de-boarding the students/toddlers from the south side.

During my Hr. Sec. days, I was being counseled at S.P. Hr. Sec. School, M. A. Road, so as to enroll myself somewhere in my catchment area. I had completed my schooling from CASET Experimental School Karan Nagar as we were residing in Nawab Bazar, S.M.H.S. Road at that very point of time. Two of my paternal cousins residing in Sanat Nagar, Govt. Housing Colony, were being taught in their own colony till 10th in a local school known as Colony Public School. They not only cracked A.I.E.E.E., but went on to enter I.I.T. as well. Both of them had even cracked P.S.C. and are rendering their services in a govt. sector now.

Being in the field of education for more than decade and a half now, I am of the opinion that time is the most precious entity and parameter so far as acquiring education is concerned. Time management plays a pivotal role in building and shaping your career and should be of top most priority so far as hierarchical parameters of acquiring education are concerned.

The point to be pondered is, a child is boarding a school bus at (say) 7 in the morning in lal bazaar and then this bus has to board rest of the students as well, and finally it has to reach (say) Panthachowk or Budgam (and this process will be repeated in the afternoon as well and that too “every working day”) or vice versa…… I think this is enough for every sane and intellect possessing person to decide that is’nt it an absolute torture and a form of interrogation with our loved and dear ones and in what sense can it be termed as love, care and dearness.

Concluding this issue/concern with an appeal to all the stakeholders who not only should be held responsible, but should also be guided/counseled, so that they might show some sort of social ethics towards the whole society in general and some sort of mercy and sympathy towards the future of our nation in particular.

Jazaak Allah.
