Militant killed in brief gunfight in Sopore identified

Sopore, May 18: A militant was killed in a brief gunfight with government forces at Hathlangoo area sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday.
Reports reaching KNO said that forces launched a cordon and search operation at Hathlangoo village of Sopore following inputs about the presence of militants.
A police officer said as the cordon was laid the hiding militant fired upon forces.
Forces retaliated, triggering a brief exchange of firing in which one militant was killed, he said.
The police officer identified the slain militant as Waseem Ahamad Naik son of Abdul Gani Naik a resident of udipora village of Basroo area in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Earlier three militants killed in a gunfight with government forces in Panzgam area of Awantipora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.(KNO)
