Bandipora shuts after reports of local militant killed in sopore encounter

Bandipora, 23 Feb: A spontaneous shutdown is being observed in north Kashmir’s Bandipora town on Saturday after a rumor spread in the town abour the killing of a local militant in Warpora encounter on Friday.
Reports said that a local youth Rameez Ahmad was reportedly killed in a gunfight with the forces in Sopore on Friday. Rameez, a resident of Qazipora Bandipra had gone missing two weeks ago.
All shops and business established were closed while traffic remained off the roads.
However, a police official said that there was no confirmation so far about the killing of a local militant in Sopore gunfight. Reports said the youth blocked the roads in Watapora, Qazipora and Onagam villages.
Meanwhile 12 persons were injured in a road accident including relatives of the missing youth who were travelling to Sopore to identify the body of the militants.
