Srinagar, Nov 7 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a 5 per cent annual increment for eligible contractual employees engaged under the National Health Mission (NHM) for the financial year 2026-27, officials said on Saturday.

The decision, formalised through an order issued by NHM Mission Director Athar Aamir Khan on November 7, will benefit eligible contractual employees working at state, divisional, district and block levels, including those engaged under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) and various disease control programmes.

The annual increment will be subject to satisfactory performance and fulfilment of the prescribed NHM guidelines, the order said.

As per the order, employees who completed one year of service on or before March 31, 2026, will be entitled to the increment with effect from April 1, 2026.

Those completing one year of qualifying service between April 1 and September 30, 2026, will receive the benefit from October 1, 2026, while employees completing one year of service after September 30 will become eligible for the increment from April 1, 2027.

The order also directs the concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and Controlling Officers to verify the qualifying service and satisfactory performance of employees before releasing the increment.

The approval follows the sanction of the NHM State Programme Implementation Plan (SPIP) for 2026-27 by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the minutes of the Executive Committee meeting of the State Health Society and a subsequent administrative order issued by the Health and Medical Education Department on November 6.
