Anantnag, November 6: The SHMM Government Degree College Anantnag has scripted a remarkable sporting achievement by winning the Inter-College Volleyball Championship 2026, organised by the Directorate of Physical Education, University of Kashmir.

 

An official spokesperson said the championship witnessed participation from nearly 40 colleges across the Kashmir Division, with teams competing for the coveted title.

Demonstrating exceptional skill, coordination, determination and sporting spirit, the volleyball team of college emerged victorious after an impressive performance throughout the tournament.

In a thrilling final encounter, the college team defeated the University of Kashmir team by 3–1 in a five-set match to secure the championship title. The players displayed remarkable resilience, confidence and teamwork, ultimately outplaying their formidable opponents to emerge as deserving champions.

The victory marks a significant milestone for the institution and reflects the dedication, discipline and hard work of the players, along with the guidance and efforts of the coach and team management.

The Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, faculty members and the entire college fraternity congratulated the victorious team on this outstanding achievement. They appreciated the players for bringing laurels to the institution and expressed hope that the team would continue to achieve greater success in future sporting competitions.
