Capacity building session on Solid Waste Management Rules 2026 held in Kulgam

Kulgam, Sep 09: Municipal Committees Yaripora and Frisal today jointly organised a comprehensive Capacity Building Programme on the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, aimed at enhancing operational awareness and strengthening ground-level implementation of sustainable waste management practices across both urban local bodies.

The specialized training workshop was conducted by Capacity Building Expert Tabraiz Madni.The session delivered practical guidance on key operational aspects under the framework of Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban 2.0, emphasizing source-level waste segregation, door-to-door collection routines, safe transportation logistics, scientific waste processing, and safe disposal standards.

Technical discussions during the session detailed the statutory obligations of Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs), operational protocols for Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), home composting techniques, and essential occupational safety measures for frontline sanitation personnel.

Madni highlighted that achieving long-term urban hygiene requires structured coordination among municipal administration, local businesses, and community institutions.

Key attendees included the Executive Officers of MC Yaripora and MC Frisal, swachhata executives, swachhata ambassadors, swachhata champions, local students, residents, members of the trading community, community stakeholders, sanitary supervisors, frontline sanitation workers, and administrative staff from both municipal bodies.
