Binner, Aug 18: Youth Innovation Foundation (YIF) conducted a menstrual health awareness workshop at Government Boys High School Binner, with an aim of promoting awareness about menstruation and encouraging open, informed conversations around menstrual health.
In a statement issued to kashmir Convener, the organisation said that the session was conducted by certified menstrual educator Minha Ashraf, who interacted with the students and explained menstruation in a simple, age-appropriate and engaging manner. She spoke about periods, menstrual hygiene and common misconceptions, while encouraging the girls to ask questions and discuss their concerns openly.
As part of the initiative, Menstrupedia menstrual education comic books were distributed among the girls to provide them with an accessible and engaging resource that they could refer to beyond the workshop.
According to YIF, the students participated enthusiastically and showed keen interest throughout the session. They raised several questions related to periods and menstrual health, leading to an open and interactive discussion.
The organisation said the programme was aimed at helping break menstrual taboos, reduce stigma and ensure that adolescent girls have access to accurate and reliable information about their bodies and menstrual health.
YIF said the workshop was part of its continuing efforts to promote menstrual health education among adolescent girls and create a more informed and supportive environment for young people.
