Baramulla, Aug 12: National Conference MLA Javed Hassan Baigh on Wednesday appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla for urgent intervention, pledging full cooperation to the administration to resolve the crisis of construction material shortage that has brought developmental projects in his constituency to a near standstill.
Addressing reporters here, MLA Baigh as per Kashmir Convener expressed readiness to work in tandem with the district administration and sought “handholding” from the LG and the DC to ensure legal availability of sand, stone, and clay for infrastructure works sanctioned under UT Capex, PMGSY, and other schemes.
“I am not here for confrontation. I am here to request. I pledge my full support to the LG, to the DC, and to the district administration. If they help me in this difficulty, I assure them that every rupee allocated will be spent transparently on the ground. Give me a legal way to get sand and stone, and I will deliver,” MLA Baigh said.
The MLA said he has complete faith in the administration’s ability to find legal solutions and urged the DC Baramulla to take personal interest in resolving the issue.
“This is not about Javed Baigh. This is about your credibility, sir. I request you, for the sake of Allah, join hands with me. I will stand with you. I will support you. Together, we can ensure these projects are completed and the people of Baramulla get their due,” he said, addressing the DC.
MLA Baigh said he was willing to personally monitor execution of works to avoid any irregularities and urged the LG to issue necessary directives to mining and revenue departments to streamline the procurement process.
“I pledge to the LG and the DC that I will not let any project fail. I will ensure accountability and quality. But for that, I need their support. I can prove my statement with facts and figures if needed,” he added.
The MLA warned that delays due to administrative hurdles could erode public trust in the system.
“My request to the DC is simple — let us work as a team. The government’s job is to find ways and keep the law in place. My job is to fulfil the people’s mandate. If we both do our duties, Baramulla’s fate will change,” MLA Baigh said.
He reiterated that his “primary, secondary, and last focus” remains Baramulla, and ruled out any political confrontation.
“I don’t want politics. I don’t want controversy. I want development. And for that, I pledge my full support to the LG and the DC,” he added.
