YIF Conducts Menstrual Health Awareness Workshop at Monarch School, Handwara

Handwara, July 2: The Youth Innovation Foundation organised a menstrual health awareness workshop at Monarch School, Handwara, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote menstrual hygiene and health awareness among adolescent girls.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, the Foundation said the session was conducted by certified menstrual educator Sidrat Mehraj, who sensitised students about menstrual health, hygiene, and the importance of breaking myths and stigma associated with menstruation.

The statement said the interactive session encouraged students to ask questions openly and helped them gain a better understanding of menstrual health in a comfortable and supportive environment.

As part of the programme, informative Menstrupedia comic books were distributed among the participants to reinforce awareness and provide age-appropriate educational material on menstrual health.

Principal of Monarch School, Saima Bashir , appreciated the efforts of the Youth Innovation Foundation and Sidrat Mehraj for organising the workshop. She said menstrual health education plays a vital role in empowering adolescent girls and expressed hope that more such awareness programmes would be organised in the future.

The workshop concluded with enthusiastic participation from the students, reaffirming the importance of creating safe and informed spaces where girls can openly discuss menstrual health and hygiene, the statement added.
