Gurez, July 2: National Hydroelectric Power Corporation’s Kishanganga Power Station on Wednesday organised a free medical camp at Government High School, Wanpora, Gurez, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives for the financial year 2026–27.
The camp was inaugurated by Rajesh Ranjan, General Manager (In-Charge) and Head of Kishanganga Power Station, who formally launched the programme by cutting the ribbon.
A dedicated team of NHPC doctors and medical staff conducted health check-ups for around 340 patients and distributed free medicines to all beneficiaries.
An official spokesperson said the initiative aimed to provide quality healthcare services to residents of Wanpora and adjoining villages, ensuring access to basic medical consultation and treatment in the remote border area.
The camp received an encouraging response from the local community, with residents appreciating NHPC’s healthcare initiative and expressing hope that similar medical camps would be organised regularly in the future.
