GHSS Nadihal Students Visit University of Kashmir for Biotechnology Exposure

Bandipora, July 2: Students of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Nadihal, Bandipora, on Thursday undertook an educational tour to the Department of Biotechnology at the University of Kashmir, aimed at exposing them to modern scientific research, laboratory practices and career opportunities in the life sciences.

An official spokesperson of the institution said the visit was organised to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical scientific applications, giving students firsthand experience of advanced laboratory infrastructure and ongoing research in biotechnology.

He said the initiative was coordinated by Ishfaq Majeed Lone, subject teacher at the school, who planned the academic programme and coordinated with the university authorities to facilitate the visit.

During the tour, students interacted with faculty members, including Head of the Department Dr. Ehtishamul Haq, Dr. Umar Mushtaq, Dr. Nadeem Nazir and Dr. Asif Amin, who introduced them to various aspects of biotechnology, including genetic engineering, tissue culture and molecular biology, through demonstrations in state-of-the-art laboratories.

The school administration said the programme was organised under the guidance of Principal Mohammad Hussain Magray and Vice Principal Mohammad Ramzan Najar, whose support made the visit possible.

Senior Assistant Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and escort staff Reyaz Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Ayub Ganie, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Iram Khursheed, Ghulam Mustafa and Aadil Sidiq also accompanied the students and assisted in the successful conduct of the tour.

The participating students were appreciated for maintaining discipline and representing the school with dignity throughout the visit.

Speaking at the conclusion of the programme, Ishfaq Majeed Lone thanked the faculty of the University of Kashmir for their hospitality and highlighted the importance of such educational tours in helping students understand practical applications of biotechnology, explore career opportunities and connect classroom knowledge with real-world scientific practices.
