JKGLTF Constitutes UT-Level Team, TFI Unit at Pahalgam Meeting

Pahalgam, June 29: The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) on Sunday held a meeting at Pahalgam during which it constituted its Union Territory-level team and the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Teachers Federation of India (TFI).

In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener, the Forum said the meeting was held under the leadership of Gowhar Ahmad Bhat, Vice President of the Teachers Federation of India and founding member of JKGLTF. Around 30 delegates from eight districts of Kashmir and four representatives from the Jammu division participated in the meeting.

The statement said the members felicitated Gowhar Ahmad Bhat on his elevation as Vice President of the Teachers Federation of India and described the achievement as a matter of pride for the teaching fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, members unanimously constituted the new Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum team to represent general line teachers across the Union Territory and coordinate the activities of the Teachers Federation of India in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the statement, the newly constituted team includes Gowhar Ahmad Bhat as President (Jammu and Kashmir-UT), Farooq Ahmad Daing as Vice President, Zahoor Ahmad Lone as Secretary, Fayaz Ahmad Dar as Treasurer and Tasneem Ali Beigh as Organiser.

The Forum also adopted several resolutions concerning the teaching community, including reconsideration of the zonation of ATD, removal of the pay anomaly affecting the 2009 batch of General Line Teachers, grant of two notional increments to the 2019 batch of teachers, and early resolution of service-related issues concerning vocational teachers.

Addressing the gathering, Gowhar Ahmad Bhat reaffirmed the Forum’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of teachers through constructive dialogue and sustained advocacy. He urged members to remain united and work collectively for the welfare of the teaching fraternity.

The meeting concluded with a pledge to pursue the issues before the concerned authorities and further strengthen the organisational network of the Forum across Jammu and Kashmir, the statement added.
