Srinagar, June 24: CHINAR International, under its Community Development Program, successfully organized its first cleanliness drive in Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Srinagar, in collaboration with the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community.

Around 100 participants, including children, youth, elderly residents, and community leaders, actively took part in the drive. A dedicated team of 15 officials from the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, led by the Senior Sanitary Inspector, also participated and extended their full support to ensure the successful implementation of the activity.

The cleanliness drive aimed to promote awareness about sanitation, encourage community responsibility, and highlight the importance of maintaining a clean, healthy, and hygienic environment. The event was carried out successfully through strong community engagement and effective coordination among all stakeholders.

The initiative received an overwhelming response from the residents of Pamposh Colony. Community leaders appreciated CHINAR International for launching the campaign and urged both CHINAR and the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to provide dustbins in the locality to facilitate hygienic disposal of waste and litter.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, SMC Sanitary Officer Imran Zargar assured continued support for future collaborations with CHINAR International and encouraged other organizations to join hands with government agencies in promoting civic responsibility among citizens.

“SMC provides numerous facilities, yet there is still a lack of civic sense among many people. Drives like these play a crucial role in generating awareness among the masses. We fully support such initiatives undertaken by civil society organizations and look forward to working collaboratively to achieve our desired outcomes,” he said.

He further highlighted that SMC provided extensive infrastructural support for such initiatives, including large dustbins, brooms, uniforms, and lawn-mowing machines.

The cleanliness drive was conducted at four identified locations in and around Pamposh Colony, Palpora. Building on the success of this initiative, CHINAR International is planning several more cleanliness drives across Srinagar city in the coming days. Preparations are already underway for the next drive, which is scheduled to take place in Bismillah Colony, Palpora.

Community Mobilizer at CHINAR International, Kulsum Ashraf, expressed gratitude to the local residents, including the Mohalla President, community members, youth, and children, for their active participation and collective efforts in making the drive a success. She also thanked the Srinagar Municipal Corporation for its valuable support.

“We need to involve all stakeholders if we want to achieve the desired results,” she said.
