Bandipora, June 23: A two-day joint training programme on the Medico-Legal Examination and Post-Mortem Reporting System (MedLEaPR) for doctors and police personnel commenced at the District Police Lines (DPL) Bandipora on Tuesday.

The programme has been organised to strengthen coordination between the Health and Police Departments and enhance the implementation of the MedLEaPR platform for medico-legal examination and post-mortem reporting across the district.

Doctors and police personnel from various parts of Bandipora participated in the training sessions, where they were briefed on the operational framework, functionalities and practical applications of the digital platform.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Azia Manzoor Bhat, State Nodal Officer for MedLEaPR in Jammu and Kashmir, said the training programme aims to build the capacity of medical professionals and improve the effective use of the portal in medico-legal work.

He informed participants that MedLEaPR is a digital platform designed for online processing of medico-legal examinations and post-mortem reports, enabling streamlined documentation and improved coordination between the Health and Police Departments.

Dr. Bhat said that since April 7, 2025, medico-legal examinations and post-mortem reports in Jammu and Kashmir have been generated through the MedLEaPR portal, marking a significant step towards digitisation of medico-legal processes.

He added that the initiative is intended to strengthen the implementation of the system across districts, improve efficiency in medico-legal documentation and ensure greater transparency and accuracy in reporting.

The training programme featured interactive sessions, practical demonstrations and detailed discussions on various aspects of medico-legal documentation, examination procedures and report generation through the digital platform. Participants also raised queries and sought clarifications regarding operational and technical aspects of the system.

Officials said the programme will continue on Wednesday with additional training sessions aimed at further enhancing the knowledge and skills of doctors and police personnel in handling medico-legal cases through the MedLEaPR platform.

The initiative is expected to contribute significantly towards modernising medico-legal services and improving interdepartmental coordination in the district.
