Two Children Die After Falling Into Irrigation Canal in Central Kashmir’s Kangan

Ganderbal, June 9: Two minor children lost their lives after slipping and falling into the Baba irrigation canal at Goripora village in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The victims have been identified as Aishiya, 4, daughter of Mohammad Amin Lone, and Mohammad Imran, 6, son of Mohammad Iqbal Lone, both residents of Goripora, Kangan.

Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the two children accidentally slipped and fell into the canal, resulting in their deaths.

Following the incident, local residents rushed to the spot and launched efforts to retrieve the children from the water channel.

The bodies were subsequently recovered by locals and shifted from the site.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village, with residents expressing grief over the loss of the two children.

Further proceedings are being carried out by the concerned authorities. [KNT]
