Joint Director School Education North Kashmir Inaugurates World Environment Day Programme at NMBHSS Bandipora

Bandipora, June 5: NM Boys Higher Secondary School (NMBHSS) Bandipora on Thursday organised a grand programme to mark World Environment Day 2026, with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and guests.

 

The programme was inaugurated by Joint Director School Education North Kashmir, Hakeem Tanvir Ahmad, who attended as the chief guest.

 

Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and called upon students to become active stakeholders in protecting nature. Describing students as the “real custodians of Planet Earth,” he stressed the need for collective efforts to build a sustainable and environmentally secure future.

 

The event began with a welcome address by Arif Ahmad Khan.
Speaking on the occasion, Eco Club Coordinator Tawheed Parvaiz Bhat highlighted the school’s year-round environmental initiatives and informed the audience that the Eco Club is actively collaborating with the The Climate Reality Project India and South Asia to promote environmental awareness, climate action and sustainable practices among students.

 

Student speakers also addressed the gathering, underscoring the significance of World Environment Day and the urgent need to tackle growing environmental challenges. They emphasized that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and that young people have a crucial role in safeguarding the planet for future generations.

 

A special highlight of the programme was the felicitation of Eco Club members, who were presented with Certificates of Appreciation for their outstanding contributions to environmental awareness campaigns, plantation drives, cleanliness initiatives and other eco-friendly activities carried out by the institution throughout the year.

 

The vote of thanks was presented by Ishfaq Anjum Samoon, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, participants, staff members and the Principal for their support in making the event successful.

 

The programme concluded with a pledge to protect the environment and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to environmental education and nurturing environmentally conscious and responsible citizens.
