Bandipora, June 4: The ongoing protest by sanitation workers of the Municipal Council Bandipora entered its fourth consecutive day on Thursday, with workers intensifying their demand for regularisation of services and enhancement of wages.

Former President of Municipal Council Bandipora, Basharat Hussain Najar, joined the protest and expressed solidarity with the agitating workers. Addressing the gathering, he urged the government to give serious consideration to the genuine demands of the sanitation workers.

Describing sanitation workers as the “real heroes of society,” Najar said they play a crucial role in maintaining public health and cleanliness. He observed that the wages being paid to them are inadequate in the current economic scenario and do not reflect the importance of the services they render.

Calling for immediate action, Najar demanded the regularisation of daily wagers, CPWs and casual labourers, along with a substantial increase in their wages. He said the workers have been serving the public for years under difficult conditions and deserve job security and better remuneration.

The protesting workers reiterated their demand for regularisation and wage revision, stating that they would continue their agitation until their concerns are addressed by the authorities.
