Shopian Police Arrest Drug Peddler; 248 Grams of Contraband Recovered

SHOPIAN, June 03: Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Shopian Police arrested one drug peddler and recovered Cannabis powder like substance from his possession.

During routine naka checking at Zainapora Bijbehara road, a police party from Police Station Zainapora intercepted a motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK18D-3211 for checking. During the search one blue color polythene bag concealed behind the seat of motorcycle, containing apparently 248grams Cannabis powder like substance was recovered. The accused has been identified as Sarjeel Ahmad Itoo son of Mubarak Ahmad Itoo resident of Pariwan Kulgam. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 80/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Zainapora. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the broader drug network involved.
