PAMPORE, June 03: MLA Pampore Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, has expressed deep concern over the extensive damage caused to apple orchards and standing crops across several areas of Pampore Constituency due to the recent hailstorm and heavy rainfall.
The untimely weather conditions have badly affected Khrew, Sharshali, Sathpokhran, Nagindee and other adjoining areas, causing significant losses to farmers and orchardists. Preliminary reports indicate widespread damage to apple orchards, paddy nurseries, vegetable fields and other standing crops, leaving the farming community distressed at a crucial stage of the agricultural season.
Masoodi stated that agriculture and horticulture are the main sources of livelihood for thousands of families in the constituency and that the losses suffered due to the adverse weather have caused serious economic hardship. He noted that apple growers and farmers cultivating various standing crops have been particularly affected by the hailstorm, which has damaged both produce and agricultural land.
The MLA urged the district administration and concerned departments to immediately undertake a detailed assessment of the losses in all affected villages and ensure that the damage is accurately documented. He further called upon the Government to provide adequate compensation and relief to the affected farmers and orchardists so that they can recover from the losses suffered.
Hasnain Masoodi assured the people that he would vigorously pursue the matter with the concerned authorities and the Government to ensure timely relief, compensation and rehabilitation for all affected families. He emphasized that no genuine claimant should be left out of the assessment and relief process.
