Srinagar, May 30: The Jammu & Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) has urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to file a review petition before the Supreme Court against the decision making the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) mandatory for teachers, stating that the ruling has created uncertainty among thousands of educators across the Union Territory.

In a statement, the Forum appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take immediate steps to safeguard the interests of teachers who could be affected by the judgment.

The Forum expressed concern that many teachers with years of service in the education sector are facing a potential threat to their jobs as a result of the ruling. It said these teachers have made significant contributions to the academic development of students and should not be subjected to uncertainty regarding their future.

JKGLTF maintained that filing a review petition is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the teaching community and ensure justice for affected educators. It urged the government to consider the hardships being faced by teachers and to explore all available legal and administrative options to safeguard their service and livelihood.

The Forum expressed hope that the Jammu and Kashmir administration would stand by the teaching fraternity and take prompt action on the issue.
