Kashmir Convener Legal Advisor Advocate Arifa Jan Elevated as Senior Advocate by JKHC

Srinagar, May 23: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has designated 15 advocates as Senior Advocates, including Arifa Jan, who also serves as legal advisor to Kashmir Convener.

According to an order issued by the Registrar General, the designations are subject to furnishing of undertakings under Rule 5 of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Designation of Senior Advocates) Rules, 2025.

The advocates designated as Senior Advocates include Ajay K. Gandotra, Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Rozina Afzal, Pran Nath Bhat, Abdul Rashid Malik, Monika Kohli, Adarsh Kumar Sharma, Pawan Kumar Kundal, Mandeep Reen, Radha Sharma, Ajay Pal Singh, Anshuja Sharma Tak, Manzoor Ali and Vikas Mangotra.

The designation of Senior Advocate is regarded as a significant honour in the legal profession and is conferred in recognition of exceptional ability, legal standing and expertise in the field of law.

Advocate Arifa Jan has more than two decades of experience in constitutional, civil and criminal litigation at the Srinagar Wing of the High Court. Enrolled in 2002, she has handled a wide range of complex legal matters and represented both private and institutional clients before judicial and quasi-judicial forums. She has also provided legal advisory services to various government departments, including Fisheries and Agro Industries.

Over the years, she has successfully handled and secured disposal of more than 500 cases, with several matters culminating in reported judgments published in leading law journals, including Supreme Court journals. She has also served as a member of the High Court Legal Services Committee, contributing towards legal aid and access to justice initiatives.
