Authorities Conduct Drug Awareness Programme, Narco Searches; Act Against Illegal Medical Shops Under NMBA at Khrew

Awantipora, May 15: Under Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, a Drug Awareness Programme was organised at Islamia Public School, Khrew, wherein students and staff participated and were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society.

Meanwhile, narco related searches are underway in K. Koot area of Awantipora and Sharshali Khrew as part of sustained efforts to curb the menace of narcotics and identify anti-social elements involved in drug-related activities.

Further, during checking of medical establishments, two shops owned by Ajaz Ahmad Shah (shop located at Kaigam) and Showkat Ahmad Shah (shop located at Hariparigam) were found operating and selling medicines without possessing a valid drug licence. Accordingly, after completion of due legal formalities, the said shops were sealed by the Drug Control Department.

Police reiterates its commitment towards eradicating the drug menace and seeks continued cooperation from the public in making society drug free.
