NEW DELHI, May 13: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducted a ten-day induction programme for newly recruited scientists from May 4 to May 13, 2026, at the CSIR–Human Resource Development Centre, aimed at strengthening scientific capacity building and professional development.

According to officials, the programme brought together 41 scientists from various CSIR laboratories across the country, providing them with training and orientation on scientific, administrative and collaborative frameworks within the organisation.

The induction programme was designed to enhance technical expertise as well as behavioural competencies, with a focus on preparing participants for leadership roles in multidisciplinary scientific environments. Sessions included expert lectures, interactive discussions and hands-on learning activities.

Officials said the programme also facilitated networking among scientists from different laboratories and encouraged collaboration across research institutions. Key themes included problem-solving, decision-making, leadership development and innovation-driven scientific thinking.

Technical sessions covered areas such as global science and technology collaborations, technology transfer and commercialisation of research, with emphasis on converting scientific work into practical societal and industrial applications.

The programme began on May 4 with an inaugural session featuring the ceremonial lighting of a lamp by senior CSIR officials, including Dr. Bhaskar Narayan, Director of CSIR–Indian Institute of Toxicology Research; Dr. Ch. Ravi Shekhar, Director of CSIR–Central Road Research Institute; and Dr. T. S. Rana, Head of CSIR-HRDC.

The valedictory session was held on May 13 and attended by Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Director of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), as chief guest. He encouraged the scientists to focus on innovation and strengthen collaboration between CSIR laboratories and academic institutions.

Officials said the programme was coordinated by Dr. Shobhna Choudhary and Senior Technical Officer Mrs. Preeti Chaudhary, whose efforts contributed to the training schedule and academic engagement.

CSIR stated that the programme reflects its continued focus on nurturing young scientists and strengthening India’s scientific research ecosystem through structured training, leadership development and collaborative research initiatives. (PIB)
