Bandipora, May 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday attached an immovable property worth around Rs 20 lakh belonging to an alleged drug peddler in the Ajas area of Bandipora as part of its ongoing anti-narcotics campaign under the “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.”

According to police, the attached property belongs to Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, son of Late Abdul Kalam Rather, a resident of Rather Mohalla Ajas, who is accused in FIR No. 103/2023 registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Post Ajas.

Police said the property was attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after investigations indicated that it had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking activities.

Officials stated that the action forms part of an ongoing drive aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure of individuals involved in narcotics trade and curbing drug-related activities in the district.

The police reiterated their commitment to continuing action against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in efforts to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.
