DMO Ganderbal Attached Over Absence During CM Visit, Illegal Mining Complaints

Ganderbal, May 11: The Directorate of Geology & Mining, Jammu and Kashmir, has attached Sh. Murtaza Bashir Bhat, Chemist and District Mineral Officer (DMO) Ganderbal, pending an inquiry into alleged non-performance and administrative lapses.

According to an official order issued by Director Geology & Mining, J&K, Pawan Kumar Sharma, the officer remained absent from several locations during the visit of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and other dignitaries to Ganderbal district on May 10 for inspection of developmental works.

The order states that despite prior instructions and repeated telephonic communication, the officer allegedly failed to accompany the visiting dignitaries during the tour.

The Directorate also took note of multiple complaints from the public and various government executing agencies regarding the officer’s alleged poor performance. Complaints related to illegal mining activities in Ganderbal district were also cited.

Pending inquiry, Sh. Murtaza Bashir Bhat has been attached to the CMT Laboratory, Budgam, and has been directed not to leave the station without prior permission from the competent authority.

Meanwhile, Sh. Gh. Nabi Pintoo (GG-III), District Mineral Officer Bandipora, has been given additional charge of District Mineral Office Ganderbal till further orders.
