Police Conduct Raid in Sumbal; 04 Held for Gambling, Stake Money Seized

Srinagar, May 11: Acting on reliable information, police from the concerned Police Station conducted a raid in the Anderkoot area of Sumbal and apprehended four persons allegedly involved in gambling activities. The accused were reportedly found playing cards on stake money during the operation.

Police identified the arrested individuals as Abdul Gani Dar, son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar; Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, son of Mohammad Subhaan Sofi; Rayaz Ahmad Sadah, son of Ali Mohammad Sadah, all residents of Arampora Sumbal; and Syed Rizwaan, son of late Syed Nabi Shah, a resident of Anderkoot Sumbal.

During the raid, police recovered stake money amounting to Rs 1,310 along with playing cards from the spot. All the accused persons were taken into custody for questioning.

Police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at the Police Station and further investigation into the matter has been initiated to ascertain whether more persons were involved in the gambling activity.
