Convener News Desk

Srinagar, April 30: AICC General Secretary and MLA Dooru-Verinag, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, has written to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking the introduction of a scheduled halt for the Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag Railway Station.

In his letter, Mir highlighted that the absence of a halt at Anantnag is causing considerable inconvenience to a large section of the population in South Kashmir. He emphasized that Anantnag serves as a key commercial and tourism hub and caters to a vast catchment area, making it a crucial point for rail connectivity.

Mir noted that improved access to premium rail services like the Vande Bharat Express would greatly benefit students, traders, employees, tourists, and patients from the region. He also underlined that such a halt would help boost tourism and economic activities in South Kashmir.

Calling for immediate intervention, Mir urged the Railway Ministry to consider the demand in the larger public interest and provide a scheduled stop at Anantnag Railway Station. (KNC)
