Convener News Desk

Srinagar, April 30: A massive fire broke out in the Bemina area of Srinagar on Thursday, damaging at least four residential houses and leaving two firefighters injured during the operation.

Officials said fire and emergency teams rushed to the spot soon after the blaze was reported and launched efforts to contain the flames, preventing further spread in the congested locality.

The incident highlights the vulnerability of closely packed residential areas to rapid fire spread, particularly where wooden structures are involved. The swift response by firefighting units helped avert a larger disaster, though several houses suffered damage.

During the operation, two firemen sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital in an ambulance for treatment. Their condition was not immediately known.

The cause of the fire was not immediately established, and further details were awaited.

Authorities are assessing the extent of damage and have initiated necessary procedures.
