Awantipora, April 26: Continuing its drive against illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Awantipora seized a motor and a boat being used for illicit sand extraction.
A police party of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora carried out the drive at Jawbehara.
During the drive, one motor along with a boat was seized while being used for illegal extraction of sand from the Jhelum River.
The person involved in the illegal activity has been identified as Amir Qayoom Malla son of Abdul Qayoom, resident of Jawbehara Awantipora.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 102/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Police have appealed to the general public to cooperate and share information regarding illegal mineral related activities in their areas. Strict action will continue against violators.
