Pampore, April 22: MLA Pampore Hasnain Masoodi on Wednesday inspected the Estate Water Supply Scheme at Khankahbagh to review the progress of ongoing works aimed at improving drinking water supply in the area.
The scheme is designed to ensure reliable water supply to residents of Estate Quarters and adjoining localities, including Frestabal and Noorani Colony. Officials from the Public Health Engineering Department, including AEE Mudasir Ahmad Untoo, accompanied the MLA during the visit.
During the inspection, Masoodi reviewed both the pace and quality of the work and directed officials to expedite execution while maintaining prescribed standards. He stressed the need for continuous monitoring and regular updates to ensure transparency and timely completion.
The MLA also inspected flood protection works along the Jhelum River at Drangbal.
Speaking on the occasion, Masoodi said the Khankahbagh Water Supply Scheme, estimated at ₹7.50 crore, will soon be taken up and is expected to be completed by September. He noted that the project will add 250 lakh gallons capacity to Pampore’s water supply system.
He further highlighted improvements made under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0, stating that several upgrades have already enhanced water infrastructure in the town.
Masoodi also revealed plans for a separate water supply scheme for Pulpar and Kadlabal areas, with a Detailed Project Report already prepared at an estimated cost of ₹7.50 crore and awaiting approval.
The new scheme is expected to benefit areas including Khankahbagh, Government Estate Quarters, Frestabal, and nearby colonies such as Barkat Colony, where residents have long faced water shortages.
Reiterating his commitment to development, the MLA said Pampore is witnessing renewed focus after years of neglect, with ongoing works across sectors including water supply, road infrastructure, healthcare, and flood management.
