BANDIPORA, April 20: Bandipora Police in coordination with the Drug Control Department on Monday carried out a comprehensive inspection drive of medical shops across Bandipora.
An official spokesperson said the campaign was part of the 100-days campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and was part of the continued crackdown under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir campaign.
Officials said the drive focused particularly on chemist shops located near schools, colleges and other public places, with the aim of preventing misuse of pharmaceutical drugs among youth. Authorities verified sale and stock records and checked compliance with prescribed norms.
During the inspections, shop owners were directed to strictly follow regulations and maintain proper documentation. As part of enforcement action, operations of two chemist shops were suspended for five days, while several others were issued warnings for violations.
Police said the initiative is part of a broader strategy combining enforcement and awareness to tackle drug abuse in the district.
They reiterated their commitment to curbing the misuse of drugs and urged chemists and the public to cooperate in ensuring strict adherence to regulations.
