SRINAGAR, April 20: A delegation of the General Line Teachers Forum (GLTF), led by Gowhar Ahmad Bhat, on Monday called on Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Naseer Ahmad Wani and submitted a memorandum highlighting several long-pending service-related issues of General Line Teachers.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener on Monday, an official spokesperson said during the meeting, the delegation raised key demands including promotion of teachers to masters, promotion of masters and teachers to lecturers, and filling up vacant posts of headmasters and principals at the earliest.
The forum also sought shifting of Master Grade posts back to the divisional cadre, creation of Senior Teacher posts, and pay parity with other Union Territories. Among other issues, the delegation highlighted the pending pay anomaly of the 2009 batch of General Line Teachers and demanded grant of two notional increments to the 2019 batch.
According to spokesperson the delegation strongly projected the demands for promotion of teachers to masters, promotion of masters and teachers to lecturers, filling up the vacant posts of Headmasters and principals at an earliest
The GLTF further called for defreezing of posts and immediate recruitment against existing vacancies to strengthen the education system in Jammu and Kashmir.
The DSEK gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that the issues raised would be examined in detail and taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate action.
The General Line Teachers Forum expressed hope that the government would take time-bound and concrete steps to redress these genuine demands in the interest of teachers and the education system of Jammu and Kashmir.
